Do you know what is urban art? We are not talking about nonsense writings that have covered our city in the recent past. Street art is a relatively new phenomenon, that involves true artist with spray, stencil, stickers, giving sense and contents to the metropolitan scenario. At an esthetical level it is an important movement that has got many protagonists in Rome. Maybe some of you will know Romephotoblog and Jessica Stewart.
This photographer from Massachusetts has lived in Rome since 2005, documenting the beauty and complexity of the urban landscape of the capital, she has often found works of street art, slowly falling in love with this creative expression. An exhibition at wine-gallery Laboratorio 51 in San Lorenzo (via the Ausoni, 47), opens Friday, March 19th, is presenting 10 selected shots taken during a year of street art hunting. JB Rock, C 215, Omino 71 and Mr. Klevra, Lucamaleonte, Högre, Urkas, Zilda, Uno, Curt (The StickHeads), each artist has prepared an original work alongside the photographs. The exhibition, curated by Stewart and Elsewhere Factory, continues until 26 March. Rome. |
